‘The Future of Construction Plant Hire’ conference 2014 – Peter Hansford Government Chief Construction Adviser confirmed as a guest speaker.

Planning and organising is in full swing for the CPA Plant Conference, in association with JCB, which will take place on 23 October 2014 at Wyboston Lakes Conference Centre, near St Neots, Cambridgeshire. The purpose of the Conference is to become the principal point of discussion for construction plant issues in the UK.
The focus of the event is not just on the safe use of machines that we have now, but also about understanding and influencing the future of construction plant hire.

Peter Hansford Government Chief Construction Adviser
Peter Hansford – Government Chief Construction Adviser will speak about the Government’s Industrial Strategy for Construction and the challenges and opportunities that it could bring to plant hire.
The HSE’s Philip White has also confirmed he will speak at the conference; Philip was Chief Inspector of Construction from 2009 – 2013, and now will be acting as interim Chief Inspector until 2015, following Heather Bryant moving on to pastures new. Philip will address the continuing need for work to reduce ill-health and accidents on sites.
John Carroll – HS2 Construction and Logistics Deputy – will speak about HS2’s planning and expectations for construction plant.
Steve Hesketh MGF will be chairing a panel discussion on BIM (Building Information Modelling) and its impact on hire and Tim Watson will talk about the latest work on Ground Conditions for construction plant.
Stephen Radley Director of Policy at CITB will consider what steps the industry must take to develop and maintain a skilled workforce.
Other subjects include; machine developments including autonomous machines; as well as safety and health issues such as operator competence, and public health issues including emissions and road transport.
The event is being promoted to UKCG and CECA contractors, as well as CPA members and other bodies in construction, and to public and private sector clients: attendance is open to anyone who has an interest in, or influence over, supplying or procuring plant.
