Jakarta, INDONESIA – 26 February 2015: Indonesia’s construction market and building materials sector have developed significantly, boosted by the rapid growth of its real estate and property market, increased private investment as well as government’s spending. The construction sector contribution to the country’s GDP has grown from 7.07 percent in 2009 to 13 percent in 2014 and has supported the expansion of Indonesia’s building materials industries.
The market is forecasted to grow 14.26 percent to IDR 446 trillion in 2015 and said to be one of the most prospective sectors due to the acceleration of the government’s infrastructure development plan.
The construction sector plays an important role in the country‘s economy as it influences most of the nation’s economic sectors. It is a crucial contributor to the process of development by providing the physical foundations to infrastructure on which development efforts and improved living standards are established. Undoubtedly, as the country’s construction sector gearing up for further development, there is a growing need of a channel to cater endless business possibilities. This year, the Indonesian government aims to achieve economic growth of 5.8 percent with infrastructure as the main key driver.
Recognizing the potential of Indonesia as an emerging market, dmgevents, organizer of The Big 5, the largest building and construction exhibition in the Middle East and South East Asia, is scheduled to host The Big 5 Construct Indonesia from 7 – 9 May 2015 at JIEXPO Kemayoran. The organizer assessed the country’s construction and building market potentials prior to deciding to hold The Big 5 Construct Indonesia and is astonished by the opportunities that Indonesian market offers.
Ashley Roberts, Event Director, The Big 5, dmgevents explained the company’s decision to bring the show to Indonesia, “The Big 5 has been conducted for more than 35 years in Dubai and has had great success with its recent launches in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and also India. dmg events as the event organizer acknowledges the growing demand to explore opportunities offered by the Indonesian market. Constructions subsectors are also thriving such as floor, wall and roof tiles due to Indonesia’s large supplies of the necessary raw materials such as clays and silica. Indonesia was ranked sixth in terms of total ceramic productions back in 2012. Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is also growing as the demand for Indonesian HVAC from Nigeria, Panama and Vietnam. Given that demand for materials will only increase as infrastructure projects are implemented, investment in domestic expansion efforts will be vital.
A notable product supplier that will be exhibiting at The Big 5 Construct Indonesia is Green Resources Material Batam Indonesia (a division of PT. Latrade Batam Indonesia) – the manufacturer of composite fire retardant building products acknowledges the urge to expand their market and set to take advantage of by the boom in residential and commercial developments as well as state infrastructure projects across the archipelago. Teo Pea Ngo, Managing Director of PT Latrade Batam Indonesia comments, “Demand of our products in Indonesia alone has increased 30 to 50 percent over the recent years as more people are green-conscious nowadays and choose GRM biowood to replace wood for their design. We are optimistic the number will rise with the rollout of numerous local projects and AEC 2015.
To do that, we are aggressively promoting our products by tapping into big scale channels. The Big 5 Construct Indonesia presents an ideal platform to showcase our leading products and capabilities to future and existing clients. We are looking forward to our participation in The Big 5 Construct Indonesia and seek the opportunity to engage new partners, both local and international.”

“We are thrilled to enter this promising market for the first time. The Big 5 Construct  Indonesia will be the first event in the country that exposes Indonesian buyers to local and global brands, giving them direct access to a wide range of new and innovative construction products and building solutions.”
