CEA awarded ‘high level’ UKTI Saudi Arabia Trade Mission – Construction and Mining Equipment, Skills, Training and Education

The Construction Equipment Association (CEA) has been awarded the contract by UKTI (UK Trade & Investment) to run a high level trade mission (16-20 March 2013) on behalf of the UKTI and British Embassy and Consulates in Saudi Arabia. The mission covers opportunities for construction equipment, construction, mining equipment (surface and underground) and education and training in these sectors in Saudi Arabia.
The mission includes a top level meeting with Saudi mining giants Ma’aden who are in on-going discussions with UKTI to enhance their supply chain with UK manufacturers. We are also planning meetings with major contractors / construction companies including Saudi Bin Laden Group and Bechtel.
Joanna Oliver, CEA’s director of Global Programmes and mission organiser said, “Further information will be available shortly when the Consulates are able to finalise the schedule. As the mission covers both the mining and construction equipment, construction sectors and education and training demand for mission places is likely to be high.”
Mrs Oliver added, “The meetings will take place in Jeddah and Al Khobar, which is in the Eastern Province. If you are interested please do let me know as soon as possible to reserve your place.”
The CEA will offer assistance with obtaining a visa, which can be time consuming, so early booking for this trade mission is essential.  As this is an official UK Government Mission the CEA have been advised that a visa is easier to obtain than on usual visits to the region.
“It is permissible for your local representative from Saudi or the Gulf region to attend in lieu of a representative from the UK provided that they only promote the UK manufacturer during the mission.” Confirmed Mrs Oliver, “Although the Embassy advise that it can be difficult for non-UK nationals to obtain a visa and early application is essential.”
